Jacob Hendrik Pierneef

Pierneef was born in Pretoria into a Dutch family in 1886 and lived to be one of the most recognised South African artists of all time. He studied drawing in Holland under an architect and painting at the hand of Frans Oerder (a Dutch born South African artist). He also attended the Staats Model School in Pretoria. His works received great acclaim in South Africa and, even though he passed away in 1957, they are still in great demand.
